...get a library card

  1. Download a library application by clicking here: English (PDF of application) or Español (PDF of application).
  2. Bring the completed application to any of our branches in Delaware, Powell, Orange Township or Ostrander with proof of your current address and photo identification (such as a driver's license).

You can also find and fill out applications in person at all of our locations.

*Children under 18 years of age will need to have a parent’s signature on their card application. For more information about obtaining a library card, please read the library’s policy, Eligibility for Borrowing.

...renew library materials

You can ask a staff member to renew materials for you. Online, you can log into your patron account in the catalog, select "Items Currently Checked Out" and mark items to renew.

If you are notified that you are unable to renew an item, please contact your local branch for assistance. Items can be renewed if no one else has the title on hold. Two renewals are allowed.

...place a hold

You can speak to a staff member at any location to place items on hold. Or try any of the self-service options below.

To place a hold using the online catalog:

Find a title in our catalog and click the request button. Request
Follow the prompts to log into your account and select a branch for pickup.  You will be notified by U.S. mail, email or text message when your items are ready to be picked up.
 

To cancel or "freeze" a hold:

You can review your holds by logging into your account. You can select the holds you would like to cancel. You can also "freeze" your hold, so that you keep your place in line but delay receiving an item until you're ready for it. 

Can't find what you're looking for?

From our catalog, you can jump to SearchOhio and OhioLINK to request items from other public and academic libraries in the state.

Get on your favorite author's list automatically!

Sign up for our Booklovers service and staff will automatically place you on hold for new titles from your favorite authors.

...reserve a computer

Patrons can log into an available computer station with their library card number. Customers without a DCDL card can get a temporary guest pass from staff that will allow for a shorter computer session.

If all computers are busy, users can make a reservation at the reservation station next to the printer.

...suggest library materials

If you have a suggestion for a title that you would like the Library to purchase, email it to us at askus@delawarelibrary.org.  Or you can visit any of our branches to make your suggestion in person. 

...support the library

Donating your time, money, or other in-kind gifts to the Delaware County District Library helps us continue to operate and promote literacy and learning throughout Delaware County. Additionally, it helps us expand our collection, provide computers, host family programs and children’s story times, purchase research databases accessible to all DCDL card-holders, and much, much more. No donation of your time, money, or efforts is too small. Your gift to the Delaware County District Library helps us better serve you and your community.

...donate my books

We accept donations of books and materials that are in good condition. Books not added to the collection are given to the Friends of the Library for their spring and fall book fairs which generate funds to support Library programs and exhibits. If you wish to donate a large quantity of books or have questions about the donation process, please contact Pam Taylor at 740-362-3861 or by email ptaylor@delawarelibrary.org

...reserve a study room

No reservation is required, but you may reserve study rooms in advance.

To reserve a study room at the Delaware Main Library, call 740-362-3861.

To reserve a study room at the Orange Branch, call 740-549-2665, or use the online "D!BS" system.
