Here are some frequently asked questions, and their answers, at the Delaware County District Library.
Does the library have wireless access?
Yes, we do! Free wireless access service is available at all of our library locations. Visitors to the library need only to bring their own laptop PCs, PDAs or other devices that are equipped with wireless network capabilities in order to access the internet for free. This service is available all open hours. If you have any questions regarding our wireless network, contact us at 740-362-3861.
When was the library built?
The original Carnegie Library at 101 North Sandusky Street was opened in 1906. Delaware County District Library opened the doors at its present location in June 1992. In 2004, the library completed an extensive interior renovation.
What's upstairs?
The offices of the Deputy director, administrative assistant and Fiscal officer are upstairs, along with the library's board room and a large storage room. The equipment needed to heat and cool the library is upstairs, too.
Where does the library get its operating funds?
As part of Governor Stricklands 2009-2011 biennium budget, Public Library Fund (PLF) receives 1.97% of the states General Revenue Fund, reflecting a .25% reduction to Ohio's public libraries. In May 2009, the voters of Delaware County approved a 1-mill, 10-year levy for Delaware County District Library (DCDL) that will be used to expand library services, including building a new branch in Orange Township, enhancing technology, and increasing the hours that the library is open. We are grateful to our community for their support of DCDL!
