Geeky Movie Screenings - Meet Luke!

Hi, my name is Luke. I’m an Adult Services Specialist at the Library’s Orange Branch. I’m a self-admitted geek. I geek (among other things) films of all sorts and varieties. I love movies that are “so bad they’re good,” classy prestige films, monster movies, and just about anything and everything that is different, weird, creepy, fun, or just plain interesting.

This month the Library is holding its third annual Great GeekFest on October 20th at the Library’s Main branch in downtown Delaware. This marks the third time I’ve had the privilege of presenting a lineup of films, television, and other fun goodies to the public in the Great GeekFest screening room. This year’s lineup has a little geekiness for just about everyone.

We start things off with some film trailers and surprise goodies at  11AM . After that, the 80’s classic Goonies shows us why “Goonies Never Say Die.” In honor of the return of Captain Jean Luc Picard to the Star Trek Universe, we will also be playing an episode of Star Trek the Next Generation. After that, we have a little fun with everybody’s favorite talk show host Space Ghost. For fans of Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack), we’ll be screening a little-known space opera called Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 1. For our finale, Godzilla battles his most terrifying nemesis - a moth? It’s the classic monster movie Godzilla Vs Mothra!
