Last summer more than 6,500 readers read over 33,000 hours. Let’s try and beat that in 2017! This summer, we’re trying to build a better world by using reading to build our dreams. It’s reflected in our summer reading theme: "Dream It. Read It. Build It." From May 25 to August 4 every DCDL location will be ready with prizes for hitting your 6 and 12 hour bench marks. The branches will be hosting weekly programs to grow your brain, too. From COSI experiments to building cute cupcakes, we’ll be building on learning and fun all summer long.

If you’ve read your 12 hours and earned both your prizes, but are hungry for more, you’re in luck. DCDL is introducing its Read On program for kids who finish their 12 hour goal early. Grab a BINGO card from the Information Desk and start making moves to get your 5 in a row. With choices of books to read and around the Library challenges, getting BINGO has never been more fun! Each card a child completes earns them a trip to the treasure box.

Summer is also a great time for adults to reinvest in their reading habit. Starting May 25, adults can complete their own BINGO cards for a chance to win a prize basket. Every BINGO card completed is another chance to win! Each branch will select 3 winners shortly after August 4.
