HOW DOES THE SUMMER READING CLUB WORK?
Kids from birth through age 18 keep track of the time spent reading or listening to books. Track your time with your reading log, then come to the library. Earn prizes after reading six and twelve hours.
HOW DO I JOIN THE SUMMER READING CLUB?
Just start reading and tracking. Download the log, use the one in our "Check it Out" or come to any of our locations in Delaware, Powell, Orange or Ostrander or our Bookmobile stops. Prizes will be available between June 1 and July 28.

WHAT BOOKS SHOULD I READ?
You can read anything you want. If you want suggestions, we have lists of “great books” divided by age level (from babies to teens) and adult book discussion titles that we recommend. We also have lists of beginning readers and several topical lists.

WHAT IF MY CHILD CAN'T READ YET?
Parents, guardians, caregivers and older siblings can read to children. We also have many excellent books on CD and downloadable audiobooks that children can listen to.

WHAT AGE LEVELS ARE INCLUDED?
Children from birth through high school seniors can participate. Adults are encouraged to participate in the summer reading challenge, find a monthly adult book discussion or attend other adult programs. Pick up a bookmark or download one below.
ARE THERE SPECIAL PROGRAMS AT THE LIBRARY?
We have programs for young children, school-age children, teens, families and adults. Program schedules are available at the library or at our online events calendar.

DO I HAVE TO REGISTER FOR ANY OF THESE PROGRAMS?
Registration is only needed for a few programs and it will be specified in the program description. If you want more information about any of the programs, please check our online events calendar or call and ask to speak to a Children’s Librarian.

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?
Readers will get a special prize once they've read 6 hours and 12 hours. At 12 hours, all participants will receive a free book, donated by the Friends of the Delaware County District Library. Kids who want to continue reading beyond 12 hours can pick up a BINGO card and fill it out to be entered to win an out-of-this-world t-shirt!
IS THERE A DIFFERENT PROGRAM FOR TEENAGERS?
Yes, teens have a Summer Reading Club and we have teen programs at all 4 locations. Teens are also welcome to attend the family programs or volunteer to help with programs. If you are interested in volunteering, please check our Volunteen page for details

IS THERE A DIFFERENT PROGRAM FOR ADULTS?
Adults are encouraged to participate in our summer reading challenge, as well. By attending programs and reading throughout the summer, you'll fill out a bookmark, which can be entered for prizes. Stop by your local branch or check out the calendar and the book discussions to get involved.

CAN I PICK UP A PRESERVATION PARKS LETTERBOX BOOKLET AT THE LIBRARY?
Absolutely! In fact, families can also register for the Summer Letterbox Adventure! Families may pick up a Preservation Parks Summer Letterbox Adventure booklet at the library (or a park) and decide which parks to visit. At each park, you follow clues in the booklet or online until you find a small box that has a rubber stamp and a code. Stamp your booklet or enter the code online to show that you found the box. As you find the boxes, you earn prizes! Click here to see how much fun our friend Gnomie had Letterboxing at Preservation Parks.
