In addition to the Delaware Arts Festival committee awarding the students’ work, the Delaware Library staff also awards first, second, and third place Staff Picks.
Teagan Kanode from Buckeye Valley High School claimed the First Place award for “Tonks,” a photo-realistic drawing in black-and-white of a resting dog. The DCDL staff awarded Second Place to Sam Kraus from Buckeye Valley High School for “Lucy,” a close-up photo-realistic drawing of a black cat’s face. Third Place went to Brenna Roggio from Olentangy Orange High School for “Painting 3,” an extreme close-up painting of a tiger’s face that also incorporates blacklight-reactive paint and an interactive element.
Individuals viewing the showcase at the Delaware Branch will see ribbons on the student artwork from both the DCDL Staff Picks and the Delaware Arts Festival panel. The full show will remain at the library through mid-day Monday, May 22.
The Friends of the Delaware County District Library will also host their Bargain Book Sale this weekend, drawing crowds to the rear garage at the Delaware Branch on Friday and Saturday. The Friday sale will run from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, bargain book buyers can peruse the offerings from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
