What is a StoryWalk®?

A StoryWalk® is a disassembled children’s book featured on different panels around a path or trail. The Delaware County District Library StoryWalk® trails promote reading and physical activity together in one interactive, family-friendly activity.

Where can I find a StoryWalk®?

You can find a StoryWalk® at our Orange, Ostrander and Powell Branch Libraries. New picture books will be displayed regularly along the trails with fun literacy tips and activities for families to enjoy.

Are there additional things to do?

Not only does a StoryWalk® offer a joyful outdoor experience, it promotes reading and discussion. Click the titles below to check out and read your own copy of a StoryWalk® book at home.

While you’re discovering the joy of reading, feel free to share your experience with us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. You can tag us on all three social media sites using @delawarelibrary.

Partnership with the Parks

Our friends at Preservation Parks of Delaware County, Ohio have created science-themed StoryWalk trails, thanks to books purchased by the Delaware County District Library. You can find these special trails during the summer at Blues Creek Park and Emily Traphagen Park. Preservation Parks’ 2022 summer education theme will be Climate Connections. Stay tuned for more stories!

Delaware Library StoryWalk is a DPHD Creating Healthy Communities Mini-Grant Recipient!

The Delaware County District Library has been awarded $4,500 by the Delaware Public Health District thanks to the Creating Healthy Communities Mini-Grant program. The Library plans to use these funds to create a semi-permanent interactive StoryWalk reading trail in partnership with Preservation Parks of Delaware County. The structures will be made from wood, metal or plastic and include an acrylic cover to protect the book pages and allow the StoryWalk to be enjoyed by trail-goers year-round. We are incredibly grateful to our friends at the Delaware Public Health District for this award!
