Delaware County Veterans History Project
If you, a relative or someone you know has served in any branch of the armed forces, and has a connection with Delaware County, we would love to hear from you! The Delaware County District Library’s Delaware County Veterans and Heroes project seeks to gather, preserve and make accessible the experiences of all county veterans.
Friends of the DCDL
Love the Library and want to get more involved? The Friends of the Library (FOL) serve as a support group for the DCDL system. They host book sales and children’s and adult events. The FOL also helps fund special activities like exhibits, holiday parties, book discussions, Summer Reading Club, and more.
Genealogy and History
Interested in learning about your family history? If so, you’ll be amazed by the resources available for free at your library. In addition to having access to Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, and Family Search, you can join us in the Local History Room at the rear of the Delaware Main Library for hands-on genealogy research help! Every Thursday and Saturday, volunteers from The Delaware County Genealogical Society will be available to assist patrons.
Golden Buckeye Card
Are you an Ohio resident age 60+? If so, you’re eligible for a Golden Buckeye card — apply for one now and reap the benefits of discounts and freebies all around the state. Golden Buckeye cardholders have saved an estimated $2 billion since 1976! Ohioans age 18-59 who have disabilities as defined by Social Security, are also eligible for a free Golden Buckeye card.
Lifelong Learning Institute
Examine ideas, acquire knowledge and fuel your curiosity as part of the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) of Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU). In collaboration with several Delaware-area organizations, the LLI offers a variety of educational programs for intellectually curious older adults ages 55+. Scholarships are available!
The Memory Care Collection
The Memory Care Collection at DCDL contains resources for individuals experiencing memory loss, their caregivers and family members, and assisted living activity directors. Browse the collection to learn more about Alzheimer’s and dementia, and to stimulate the mind from the onset of symptoms through end-of-life care.
Outreach Services
The Outreach Services Department extends the library beyond our walls by bringing books, DVDs and other library materials to individuals and facilities such as preschools, daycares and senior living communities. Home delivery service is also available to individuals unable to visit the library because of physical limitations.
Preservation Parks of Delaware County
Preservation Parks is committed to preserving Delaware County’s natural areas, which are home to thousands of native plant and animal species and are special places for people. Preservation Parks offers many programs, including a popular “Golden Marathon” hiking series for older adults.
SourcePoint
A valued partner organization, SourcePoint is Delaware County’s comprehensive aging services provider. SourcePoint provides adults ages 55 and older with in-home care services – such as Meals on Wheels and personal care – to help seniors live independently at home. SourcePoint also offers hundreds of community programs on-site in their enrichment center and off-site throughout the county for everything from art to travel.
