We know that you can’t always make it to storytime — maybe your child is ill, or perhaps DCDL is taking a short break from Storytime. Whatever the reason, we want to make sure that you and your child can enjoy the stories, songs, activities, and fun that are part of every Storytime. Watch, listen, and play anytime, anywhere!

The State Library of Ohio, in collaboration with Ohio Ready to Read, offers the Day By Day Ohio Family Literacy calendar to promote family literacy and family engagement across Ohio. The calendar has a monthly theme and unique daily entries that encompass books, songs, activities, and family health and wellness information. Families, caregivers, and educators can use Day by Day Ohio at home and in the library and classroom to further develop early literacy skills that help young children become prepared for and succeed in school. Children will enjoy fun, positive learning experiences that support school success and, ultimately, lifelong learning!
Explore amazing e-books, audiobooks, movies and other streaming media by browsing in Hoopla Kids Mode. Hoopla for Kids is a multi-format, digital media experience designed especially for kids and families. All content – books (audiobooks, e-books, comics), video (movies, TV shows) and music – has been selected and brought together in one place to give kids and families an environment where young minds can explore safely. Simply open Hoopla and then click “Kids” next to Hoopla’s search bar.
Kanopy is a video streaming service that partners with studios like A24, The Criterion Collection, PBS and more to provide access to thoughtful entertainment — all FREE with your Library card! Kanopy Kids is a collection of kid-friendly movies, television shows and animated stories. Find fun and educational selections including PBS Kids programs and full-episodes of Sesame Street. Little ones can enjoy stories with animated titles like Mo Willem’s Pigeon books and the Scaredy Squirrel series.
Join us at your Library for in-person Storytimes! Kids will have fun learning while caregivers learn ways to help their children get ready to read. Storytime leaders demonstrate and share about early literacy while engaging participants with books, songs, movement, music, fingerplays, rhymes, and storytelling. We offer special storytimes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and the entire family.
All children younger than 5 years old are eligible to receive a brand new book each month with this great program! Simply enroll your child online, and in 6-8 weeks, they will receive their first book in the mail from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio. This monthly program is always free, and siblings are also eligible!
