We're getting better!
SearchOhio and OhioLINK Upgrades
Last year, Ohio libraries shared more than 6 million items with each other, thanks to a system that connects 86 college libraries (known as OhioLINK) and 45 public libraries (known as SearchOhio). A major upgrade, resulting in downtime, will begin May 23.
Unlike watching your library polish up its physical facilities, these changes won’t be observable, but will result in a major upgrade to the technology that makes it possible for you to directly request and borrow books among Ohio college and public libraries.
The new technology will integrate OhioLINK and SearchOhio’s existing platforms to simplify your search. While SearchOhio and OhioLINK will be unavailable during the upgrade, you can continue to borrow from 17 neighboring libraries via the Central Library Consortium (CLC). While the SearchOhio upgrade had been planned to be live on October 27, issues were discovered as the system came online that delayed the start date. The issues are currently being addressed, and we’re making sure that you can reliably request and get your items before the new system goes live.
- OhioLINK – Restart of service has been delayed; we don’t have a new date yet. Please watch this page for updates.
- SearchOhio – Restart of service has been delayed; we don’t have a new date yet. Please watch this page for updates.
Benefits of this upgrade include:
- Ability to expand the number of future libraries participating
- Simplified user experience
- Improved library collaboration and operational efficiencies
- No development costs to DCDL
- Easier to discover library resources and explore new content
DCDL does also participate in a nationwide interlibrary loan network. Please ask a staff member or email a librarian if you would like to make a request.
Thank you for your patience while we upgrade these resources!
