The Delaware County District Library is proud to share our comprehensive Facilities Master Plan. The documents on this page will help guide future decisions regarding DCDL buildings, spaces, and services.

A Facilities Master Plan is a long-range planning document that evaluates our current facilities, identifies future needs, and outlines potential opportunities to ensure our library system continues to meet the needs of a growing and changing community. The plan serves as a roadmap to help guide future discussions and decision-making related to library facilities over the next 10 – 15 years.

The development of this plan has been a collaborative process. Working with our consultant team, Bialosky, we gathered input from staff, community members, stakeholders, elected officials, and library users through surveys, interviews, focus groups, facility assessments, and demographic analyses. We also examined trends in library service, population growth, community development, and the condition and capacity of our existing facilities. The result is a plan that reflects both current realities and future possibilities for the Delaware County District Library.

It is important to understand that this plan is not a construction schedule, nor does it represent final decisions about any specific project. Rather, it is a planning tool that helps library stakeholders think strategically about future needs and opportunities. As circumstances change and community needs evolve, the plan will likely be adjusted and refined.

Timeline

2025

• August 12: The library invited qualified consulting firms to submit proposals for the development of a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan.
• September 12: RFP submissions due.
• November 10: Bialosky firm chosen and kickoff meeting held.
• December 1-19: Community and staff surveys open for responses.

2026

• January 15: Staff visioning session held at Liberty Branch Library.
• February 4: Community visioning session held at Liberty Branch Library.
• April 16: DCDL staff members and the Bialosky team tour library branches in the Greater Cleveland area that have recently been through a Facilities Master Plan process or renovation.
• June 16: Bialosky presents at a regular meeting of the DCDL Board of Trustees.
