Schiffel’s Safety Scholars

Schiffel’s Safety Scholars is a summer program and contest sponsored by the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office. This year, elementary aged kids are invited to write a book, and middle and high school students can design a billboard!

“You Be the Author” Book Writing Contest is open to elementary aged students in Delaware County. Stories should include 10-12 pages of content (including illustrations) and a message about why drugs, alcohol, vaping, tobacco, and/or marijuana are bad for kids. The winning book(s) will be published by the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office, and the winning author(s) will enjoy a book signing at Beanbag Books!

“You Be the Artist” Billboard Design Contest is open to middle and high school age students in Delaware County. The design should include a message about why drugs, alcohol, vaping, tobacco, and/or marijuana are bad for kids. The winning billboard design will be displayed on a billboard on 36/37 westbound beginning September 1, 2025.

Contest entries can be turned into any DCDL location, or mailed/dropped at the Prosecutor’s Office at 145 North Union Street, Delaware. For complete rules, please click here.
