Honoring Dr. King's Legacy

Closed for MLK Jr. Day

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all DCDL locations will be closed on Monday, January 15. The library will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, January 16.

If you will be in Delaware, you may be interested in attending Delaware County’s 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Ohio Wesley University. This year’s celebration will feature keynote speaker Dr. Hasan Jeffries, an Associate Professor of History at The Ohio State University and author of Bloody Lowndes: Civil Rights and Black Power in Alabama’s Black Belt. He will be accompanied by Emcee Tracy Townsend, a journalist who is a News Anchor on “Wake Up CBUS,” the morning newscast at WBNS-10TV. Tickets to the luncheon are on sale through January 8.

If you are unable to attend but would like more to learn more about Dr. King’s life and legacy, please check out our Library’s collection of books and films, Hoopla’s collection of instant e-books, or stream films and documentaries about Dr. King on Kanopy.

The Delaware County District Library serves as the public information provider for our community, using traditional and innovative technology to encourage curiosity, free inquiry, and lifelong learning in a friendly environment.
