Honoring Dr. King's Legacy

Closed for MLK Jr. Day

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all DCDL locations will be closed on Monday, January 20. The library will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, January 21.

If you will be in Delaware, you may be interested in attending Delaware County’s 32nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Ohio Wesley University. This year’s celebration will feature keynote speaker Dr. Valerie Lee, a retired professor of English and former chair of three Ohio State University academic departments – English, Women’s Studies (now Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies), and African American and African Studies. Her latest book, “Sisterlocking Discoarse: Race, Gender, and the Twenty-First-Century Academy,” was a finalist for the 2021 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award in the Education Category.

The Columbus Adventist Academy Children’s Choir will also perform, directed by Tamaria Kulemeka.

Tickets to the luncheon are on sale through January 10.

If you are unable to attend but would like more to learn more about Dr. King’s life and legacy, please check out our Library’s collection of books and films, Hoopla’s collection of instant e-books, or stream films and documentaries about Dr. King on Kanopy.

We open doors to imagination, knowledge, connection, and discovery.
