Dive into Reading This Summer!

Summer Reading Club 2022

The unofficial kick-off to summer begins May 28 with the Delaware County District Library’s 2022 Summer Reading Club, “Oceans of Possibilities.” The annual reading program will run through August 19 for all ages, infant through adult!

Did you know that reading just 15-minutes a day helps kids maintain and build the literacy skills learned over the school year and reduces “summer slide?” It’s true! And your library is here to help make reading fun all summer long.

Youth readers ages 0 – 17 are challenged to read 12 hours over the summer and will earn prizes at the 6- and 12-hour milestones. Included in the six-hour prize will be a collection of coupons, discounts and free giveaways provided by local businesses around Delaware County and Central Ohio, all tucked into a cool color-changing tumbler. Once they’ve read 12 hours, youth are invited to choose a book to keep; books are provided through the generosity of the Friends of the Delaware County District Library.

Adults are encouraged to read books or attend library programs. Any combination of four books read or programs attended will earn participants a prize. Adults who turn in at least one completed Summer Reading Club bookmark are also entered into a drawing for the Grand Prize, a 3-hour rental of COhatch’s private movie theater!
