Explore Reading This Summer!
Summer Reading Club 2024
Hello there, adventurers! Adventure begins at your Library, and at DCDL, we’re challenging readers of ALL ages to explore the fun of Summer Reading Club. Kids ages 0-12 are welcome to join our Kids Club, teens have their own Teen Club, and readers ages 18 and older can join the Adult Summer Reading Club.
Help us kick off Summer Reading with a KidX event at Polaris Fashion Place on Wednesday, May 22 at 5 pm. Enjoy a storytime for the whole family with Mr. George the Librarian rocking out on stage, followed by a meet-n-greet and photo opportunities with the Library’s mascot Percy Unicorn!
Did you know that reading just 15-minutes a day helps kids maintain and build the literacy skills learned over the school year and reduces “summer slide?” It’s true! And your library is here to help make reading fun all summer long.
Youth readers ages 0 – 12 are challenged to read 12 hours over the summer and track their progress on their reading log. Kids will earn prizes at the 6- and 12-hour milestones. Included in the six-hour prize will be a collection of coupons and giveaways provided by local businesses around Delaware County and Central Ohio, along with a cool color-changing cup. Once they’ve read 12 hours, youth are invited to choose a book to keep, provided through the generosity of the Friends of the Delaware County District Library.
Teens ages 13-17 are encouraged to read books or attend library programs and track their progress on a Summer Reading Club bookmark. Any combination of four books read or programs attended will earn participants a book of their choice! Additional completed bookmarks are entries into our prize basket drawing.
Adults are encouraged to read books or attend library programs. Any combination of four books read or programs attended will earn participants a water bottle. Adults who turn in at least one completed Summer Reading Club bookmark will be entered into the prize basket drawing, too.
Visit our Summer Reading Club website for the week’s programs as well as information on our very special events, including:
- Upside Down Fairy Town presented by River City Puppets
- Talewise Science’s Adventure of the Lost Treasure
- Free concerts with Cap City Brass

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Library this summer! Get excited — adventure awaits!
